February 10 - Sort-of Over The Biggest Loser

I really enjoyed the last season of "The Biggest Loser." This season, I'm not into it.  I think the reason is that I'm still attached to the contestants from just a few months ago.  Prior to season 12, I had not watched the show in years.  I had no one to compare the cast to, and so I was able to form quasi-emotional attachments to some of them.

Outside of Emily, I couldn't give a sh*t whether or not the people on this season meet their goals.  AND that chick Conda is absolutely terrible.  At this point I'm watching the show just to see how annoying she can get.

Finishing this season of BL seems like a long shot.  I'll probably wait awhile before I watch another one.

In other news, the Colonial 5K is coming up in two weeks.  I'm working hard for that goal of 27 minutes. This was today's speed work: 10 min warm up then 5 sets of [3 min @ 7.2 (8:20 min/mile), 1 min walk recover].  Wooooo it was hard.  Determination and Karen O & Trent Reznor's version of the "Immigrant Song" got me through it, but just barely.

A few years ago I ran a 10 mile race at 8:15 pace; this morning I could barely turn out 5 600s at a pace slightly slower.  I'm not sad about it, just cognizant that I am capable of a lot more than what I can do now.  I have to remind myself that the hard work I'm putting in today will make me stronger, and faster, tomorrow.

Listen to this song!

  1. A lot of people are unhappy with the latest season of TBL here in Oz as well. I've stopped watching it... usually I watch the finale show to see how much weight everyone's lost, but as I don't know the characters have no vested interested then...

Keep up the great work with your running!

  2. I haven't been able to get into the BL the past several season. I try to watch it every new season but quickly lose interest. It is so boring now. It sounds like you training is going great! I really want to do a 5K but I am too nervous to attempt one.
