March 27

You MUST look at this website if you haven't already, it is hilarious: #whatshouldwecallme

I ate like a beast today.  Not weighing in tomorrow.  Even though I had great intentions for getting right back to where I was before drinking all the champagne in New York state this weekend, I should have known it wouldn't happen.  Getting back on the bandwagon always takes me a few tries.  Spinning at 8:15 am tomorrow, followed by a 2 mile run.  The vigorous workout is just what I need to kick my a** into gear.

Friday I'm driving back up the east coast to New Jersey for a conference at Rutgers.  Not only am I playing catch up after our whirlwind weekend, but I'm also trying to write the paper I'm presenting on Saturday morning.  The fun never ends over here, I'll tell ya.  However, I do have some photographic evidence of me and my honey getting ready for a good time in NY.

I love this man... and the sparkly sequin top (you can't really see it in the pic) I wore to 516's wedding!

  1. This is probably weird, but I'm going there anyway... I've never commented on your blog, but I read it/cheer for you every day. I heard of your blog on Fat2Fit, and have been reading ever since. All of that to say: that tumblr you linked to has had me laughing (and I mean laughing-til-you-cry, laughing-til-no-sound-comes-out kind of laughs) for the last thirty minutes. This is the most I've laughed in a while -- thank you!!

    1. NOT WEIRD! I'm so psyched that you read the blog, and even more so that you love #whatshouldwecallme whoever makes it is genius. every single one is funny. IT IS THE BEST.

So glad you commented, and that we have the same (awesome) sense of humor!

  2. I just laughed for like 15 minutes at that website, thanks!

Good luck with your workouts. I've been amping up my routines for the last two weeks and have been super hungry and super tired...and super frustrated. I'm hoping it levels out soon. Did you have this problem when you started running and spinning more?

    1. I have the site in my GR - daily laughs make life better.

YES i get hungry - i eat a ton of fruit, which is zero points on WW. I drink a lot of water, which helps with hunger and tiredness, and I sleep more. I sleep an extra hour on the days when I really kill it. Eating a banana right before i spin/run helps me a lot with not being crazy hungry after the workout, and i usually eat an egg white scramble for breakfast, which keeps me full. a pb&j as an afternoon snack is very satisfying, too.

    2. Oh, I forgot to ask, why are you frustrated?

    3. Oh! I'm trying to stay within my points despite being hungrier and more tired from exercising. But, at the same time, running with my dog and getting in bike rides keep me happier, so I eat less junk food. I'm getting frustrated as I'm trying to find that balance.

I tried eating more fruit and veggies but I think I need to add more protein like egg white and peanut butter....and get some sleepy time. This week I started adding a smoothie with berries and protein powder to my breakfast in the morning and it seems to be helping. None of the people at my meetings seem to be concerned with improving running pace or cycling more miles!

    4. One of the reasons I stopped going to meetings was because most of the people could walk around the mall and lose an extra pound a week. I was like, WHERE ARE THE ATHLETES?!

Protein is a biggie for me, and eating constantly. The reason I have weeks where I don't lose weight is because I don't enough of the right foods, and then I go a little nuts-o on the carbs (and wine).

Three egg whites in the morning with veggies and morning star sausages is only like 5 points and is filling. Laughing Cow cheese is great - two wedges for one point - you can slap that on anything and it is hidden protein. I put kefir in my smoothies, which is protein and tastes good. Also, I don't put smoothies in the recipe calculator for points, which you are supposed to do. I'd eat all those fruits if I didn't blend them anyway. If you drink a fruit smoothie with a turkey sandwich at lunch or dinner, it is VERY filling. Another favorite snack is half a cup of yogurt with a half cup of oat bran and a serving of dried cranberries. the whole thing is 5 pts and stays with me till dinner.

And are you counting your activity points? DO IT!

The weeks I lose the most weight I count all my activity points, I use them all AND my weekly extras, and i'm eating healthy foods all the time, like every two hours. The weeks I don't lose weight I forget to eat lots of fruits, I wait too long between meals, and I eat half a bag of tositos while waiting for dinner to be ready.

  4. Seriously, awesome picture!

I always have trouble behaving myself at weddings, food-wise. The cake is always so delicious, and I am a sucker for champagne! Siiigh. Good thing they're usually super fun and full of dancing, too... that has to offset at least a few of the champagne calories, right? RIGHT?? hehehe.

    1. Thank you for the picture compliment.

I'm with you on the champers and dancing. Also, you stay up so late at weddings (at least the two I've been to, night ceremonies) and that burns lots of calories, too!
