January 22 - Duh.

I went to yoga this morning, and my knee felt great for the first 30 minutes of class.  Sun salutations, hip openers, warriors up the wazoo - awesome.  Then we started doing some poses where I had put my weight on my knees and my right knee really started acting up.  My yoga instructor said "Your knee hurts when we do weight-bearing poses."  It was such a "duh"moment.  My knee doesn't just hurt in weight-bearing poses, it hurts partly because it is ALWAYS carrying the extra weight I put on two years ago.  It was like a crystal ball floating in front of me and it said "when you lose weight, your knee will feel better, and you'll be able to run again."  Well, powerful mystical universe, I heard you.

  1. I struggle putting weight on my knees sometimes as well, but that happened even when I was thin and not-as-fat! Something about the placement I think. (Mind you, I also feel uncomfortable sleeping with my knees together on my side!)

You can get special foam things for under your knees can't you? (I'd always meant to get some when I did yoga!)

    1. I usually have a blanket under my knees which does help, but my knee was hurting in standing weight bearing positions as well. I know all my knee problems won't go away just because I've lost weight, but I'm certain they will get better!
